How much does the Odoo Accounting set-up cost?
The Odoo Accounting set-up costs from EUR 1,500 excl. VAT in Luxembourg for a simple company, and more if applications (invoicing, sales, purchases, inventory) or a history takeover are added. The price includes the full Luxembourg configuration and half a day of training.
| Service | Price | Included |
|---|---|---|
| Odoo Accounting set-up, simple company | from EUR 1,500 | Standard chart of accounts, VAT, eCDF, banks, half-day training |
| Set-up with invoicing, purchases and sales | from EUR 2,500 | Same, plus invoicing flows and reminders |
| Accounting history takeover | from EUR 500 | Import of balances and third parties |
| Monthly support | EUR 150 / month | Support, entry review, configuration updates |
| Odoo licence | Publisher price | No margin; direct contract with Odoo |
How much does Odoo save on bookkeeping?
Odoo saves up to EUR 700 excl. VAT a year on the bookkeeping of a 120-entry company, because invoice entry and bank reconciliation are done by the client or automated, and the firm only steps in for review. Savings grow with volume; under 60 entries they do not justify the set-up.
| Annual volume | Classic bookkeeping | Bookkeeping on Odoo | Annual saving | Recommendation |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Under 60 entries | 500 | 500 | 0 | Stay on classic bookkeeping |
| 120 entries | 1,200 | 500 | 700 | Odoo pays off from year two |
| 200 entries | 1,700 | 800 | 900 | Odoo recommended |
| 400 entries | 3,000 | 1,500 | 1,500 | Odoo with integrated invoicing |
Mickaël LOC's take
Odoo is not a saving for everyone. A director who does not want to touch his books will pay the set-up and drift back to classic bookkeeping; we say so beforehand. The right Odoo client already invoices from a tool and wants to see cash without waiting for the balance sheet. For him the set-up is amortised in fifteen months.
Odoo or BOB50: which fits your profile?
Odoo suits a company that wants to run its own invoicing and cash; BOB50, the reference software of Luxembourg fiduciaries, remains preferable when accounting is fully delegated to the firm, at no licence cost to the client.
| Criterion | Odoo | BOB50 at the firm |
|---|---|---|
| Cost to the client | Publisher licence + set-up | None |
| Invoice entry | By the client or automated | By the firm |
| Real-time cash view | Yes | At closing or on interim statement |
| Invoicing, reminders, inventory | Integrated | Separate tool |
| Best fit | Over 120 entries, involved director | Full delegation |
Frequently asked questions
Is the Odoo licence billed by the firm?
No. The licence is contracted directly with Odoo at publisher price; the firm takes no margin. Only the set-up and support are billed by the firm.
Is Odoo compliant with the Luxembourg chart of accounts?
Yes, with the configuration we perform: standard chart of accounts, Luxembourg VAT rates, return format and eCDF export. Odoo's default configuration is not sufficient without this adaptation.
Can I switch from BOB50 to Odoo mid-year?
Yes, preferably at a quarterly VAT closing. The history takeover costs from EUR 500 excl. VAT and covers balances, third parties and the current year's entries.
Does the firm remain responsible for books kept on Odoo?
The firm reviews, corrects and prepares the annual accounts and returns; entries made by the client remain his responsibility. Monthly support includes a consistency check of the entries.
